The Division of Neonatology is responsible for providing full service care for sick newborns in Mid-Missouri according to their individual needs.  The care is most often given directly with the assistance of a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, respiratory therapists and social services.  Some infants require surgical intervention as part of their global management; in those cases the Neonatologist will coordinate and manage the care in conjunction with the appropriate pediatric surgical sub-specialist.  These services are provided to infants who are either delivered by the University Obstetric service or who may be transferred into our system from outlying hospitals.  One phone call to 1-800-392-2511 will put a physician in direct contact with the attending Neonatologist.  The Neonatologist will be happy to either give advice or dispatch a trained transport team to help an infant.
